Forest School is a long term project with frequent and regular sessions in a local natural space, not a one-off visit. Learning takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world. Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. It offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and themselves
Hugh Myddelton's Forest School is run by Ms. Kate Elander, a qualified Forest School Practitioner and highly-experienced teacher. Forest School forms part of our curriculum offer for children aged 7-10 years.
Here's what our pupils thought about their time in the forest:
"I enjoyed roasting marshmallows the most."
"I got to play with my friends and we got freedom."
"I didn’t like exploring, but thanks to [Ms. Elander], I like exploring. Thank you for doing that."
"Every day got more exciting."
"The only thing I want to add is – FOREST SCHOOL IS NUMBER 1!"
